At 86,Venkataswamy walks wherever he goes and never uses a bus.His daily routine is hectic.He gets up at 5 am and does his daily chores.By 9 am he is at the Suchitra Film Society,where he is the treasurer.At noon,he heads to Devagiri temple,where he is a trustee.I go back home by 1 pm,have lunch,pay bills,shop and get back to Suchitra by 4 pm.I stay there till 7 pm and return home, he said.
He follows a normal diet.Although a diabetic for the past 30 years,he eats sweets as well.I am a pure vegetarian and do not have any addiction.As long as we know our limitations,we should be fine.
He is not training specifically for the marathon and believes his daily w a l k i n g should suffice.He said,I am a true G a n d h i a n and have participated in freedom marches.I intend to be a part of the marathon and add another credit to my list. He worked at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited,Simco factory and retired in 1985 at Bharat Electronics.
Ask him what is his message for todays youngsters,and pat comes the reply: I request them not to be ambitious and greedy.Aim at attaining self satisfaction and be sincere.Always keep yourself engaged and never believe that a word called impossible ever exists.
